Do you lack motivation?
When things are going well and you‘re on a roll knocking down obstacles and taking home successes, it’s easy to find motivation.
But what happens when things slow down and you’re starting to feel uninspired? When you haven’t had a new “win” in a while, it can be difficult to put in the effort to get the ball rolling again.
Today I want to talk about how to get and sustain motivation in six easy steps. With a little effort, I’m confident you can gain a motivated spirit in no time.
High performers are full of ambition. That desire for something more is not always easy to come by. Sure, at one time you were probably brimming with it! But for some reason or another, you now find yourself searching for that feeling of inspiration.
Allow yourself to dream about your wants, goals and passions again! What are your big-picture dreams?
To sustain motivation, it’s important to live in a state of expectancy. High Performers carry a belief that their goals are not only possible but that they can actually do them.
What are some ways that you can alter your way of thinking so that you live with a sense of expectancy? What limiting beliefs do you need to let go?
High performers who need motivation are focused individuals. They spend time in self-reflection and are intentional with their actions -- making sure they are reaching their goals. Being focused is a daily discipline that requires avoiding distractions.
What are some small steps you can take on a daily and weekly basis to help you focus?
To keep your momentum going, it's necessary to put in the effort every day. Small, consistent steps are what will give you BIG results! Don’t expect the motivation to come before the effort––sometimes you need to put in the effort for the result to be motivation.
What is one thing you could do every day to increase motivation?
It should come as no surprise that people who have a sustained sense of motivation have a positive attitude! They make a choice every day to approach their life and work with an attitude that is primed for success.
While it sounds simple, we all know being full of positivity every day is a big task. However, I’d venture to say that this step goes hand in hand with number two, expectancy. Having the attitude that you are in charge of bringing about motivation and success is powerful!
What are some ways you can change your attitude to bring on more motivation?
While all of the steps we’ve covered so far have to do with an internal or intrinsic source, this last one is all about the environment. High performers who want to keep a sustained motivation make a choice to surround themselves with like-minded people who support them.
What kind of changes can you make in your environment that will encourage motivation?
Finding and keeping motivation is difficult, but something that is integral to becoming a high performer. If you’re needing motivation, that’s where I come in.
